In early 2012 several parents got together for the sole purpose of bringing lacrosse to the Kickemuit Middle School. The idea was to introduce the sport to students who have never played and to allow students who have played to continue doing so in a scholastic environment. The idea took hold so those parents applied to US Lacrosse for two “First Stick Grants”, one each for a boys and girls team. The grants were awarded and KMS Lacrosse was born. The parents applied to become a 501.c3 non-profit organization and held a fundraiser to help reduce the per-player tuition.
In late 2012 the equipment arrived and the coaches were hired. In early 2013 the coaches went to the US Lacrosse Annual Convention for training. Pre-season training for the inaugural season began in mid-January and the season kicked off in late March.
